Fairfield Police: Woman Stole Perishables and Multiple Mucinex Bottles FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield woman who attempted to steal perishable food and six bottles of Mucinex from a town supermarket was arrested Friday, police said. Loss prevention staff at the Villa Avenue Stop & Shop said Johanna Landaeta, 37, of Benton Street, concealed items in a reusable grocery bag and attempted to walk out of the store around 3:30 p.m., police said. The groceries totaled $63.54. Landaeta was released on a promise to appear in court on Dec. 22.

Car With No Steering Wheel, Battery Stolen In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Vermont Avenue man reported his car stolen Saturday — despite the fact that the car had a flat tire and no steering wheel or battery, police said. The man said he believes his 1997 black, two-door Honda Civic, which was unlocked outside his home, was stolen around 2 a.m. He told police the car’s removable steering wheel and battery were not in the car and the right rear tire was flat. He also said the word “Darko” is stenciled on the car left rear tire. Th owner valued the car at $5,000 because of its unusual features, police said.
