Westport Republicans Set Date for Caucuses

WESTPORT, Conn. – Calling all Westport Republicans. If you've ever wanted to get involved with the Republican Town Committee, now is your chance. The committee is holding caucuses this month to select members for 2012-13.

With more than 50 members, the committee is mainly responsible for selecting candidates to run for office and supporting candidates' campaigns. This year, committee members will help  support the Republican nominee for president, candidates for the U.S. Senate and Congress, and Republicans running for the state legislature.

Registered Westport Republicans can get involved with the committee by attending the caucuses on Jan. 10. All registered Republicans in the nine Representative Town Committee districts are encouraged to participate in the caucuses either by running for a seat on the committee or by supporting candidates at the caucuses.

The caucuses will meet at 8 p.m. at the polling locations for each voting district. RTM Districts 1 and 9 will meet at Saugatuck Elementary School; RTM District 2 will meet at Kings Highway School; RTM Districts 3 and 8 will meet at Coleytown Middle School; Districts 4 and 5 will meet at Greens Farms Elementary School, and RTM Districts 6 and 7 will meet at Long Lots Elementary School.

If you are interested in participating in the caucuses, or would like more information about the caucuses or the Westport Republican Town Committee, contact committee Chairman Bob Zappi at bzappi@catalyst.com or 203-454-3168.
