Anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of accumulation is expected across Fairfield County, according to the National Weather Service.
A Winter Weather Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, is in effect until 2 p.m. Friday.
The snow is expected to taper off by about noon with temperatures in the mid-30s.
Snow, sleet and/or freezing rain could cause travel difficulties. Drivers should be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution on the roads.
After the storm passes by early Friday afternoon, skies will stay clear through Monday with highs in the 30s on Saturday and Sunday, but wind-chill values will make it feel much colder. It will be in the teens overnight.
A new storm system is expected to affect the area early Tuesday morning and last into Wednesday.
It is too soon to project the possible potential accumulations of that storm, but some projections are calling for heavy snow across Fairfield County.
