Staples Rugby To Hosts Autism Speaks Fundraiser Game

WESTPORT, Conn. – The Staples High School Rugby team will be raising funds for Autism Speaks, an advocacy and research organization, during Thursday’s home game. It is being played in memory of team captain Matt Cozzi’s late sister, Diana.

Diana Cozzi, who was born with nonverbal autism, died last October at the age of 15. As a way to honor Diana, the rugby team will sell baked goods and donated Autism Speaks merchandise during the game. Proceeds will be donated to the organization.

The game will begin at 5 p.m. at Staples Field, 70 North Ave.

Founded in 2005 by the grandparents of an autistic child, Autism Speaks sponsors autism research, raises awareness of autism spectrum disorders, hosts outreach activities and advocates for the needs of individuals and families living with autism.
