WESTPORT, Conn. Staples will play Newtown at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bunnell High School in Stratford in the semifinals of the Class LL football playoffs. The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference announced sites and times for the semifinals Wednesday morning.
No. 2 Staples advanced with a 48-21 win Tuesday over Ridgefield. Newtown, the No. 6 seed, defeated Hall, 36-22.
In other playoff games, Norwalk High will play Xavier at 2 p.m. Saturday at West Haven High School in the semifinals of the Class LL tournament. The second-seeded Bears advanced with a 21-15 win over Conard on Tuesday in the quarterfinals. Top-seeded Xavier topped No. 8 Glastonbury, 34-6, to move on.
Also, New Canaan will meet Windsor in the semifinals of the Class L playoffs on Saturday at 2 p.m. at East Haven High School. The fifth-seeded Rams advanced Tuesday with a 27-26 win over New London. No. 1 seed Windsor beat No. 8 Notre Dame of West Haven, 14-7.
