On Friday, the university announced the new home of Fairfield Golf will be Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield, as opposed to Race Brook Country Club in Orange, where the teams used to practice and play.
“Brooklawn Country Club is an incredible course and facility to serve as the home of Fairfield University Golf,” said Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann. “This partnership will undoubtedly enhance the student-athlete experience for our golf programs and bring added visibility to our institution.’
The Stags men’s and women’s teams will use Brooklawn’s 6,800-yard championship course, practice range and other amenities beginning this season.
The club counts a significant number of alumni in its membership. In fact, Brooklawn is the home of the Fairfield Athletics Hall of Fame Golf Outing.
Founded in 1895 and one of the first clubs recognized by the U.S. Golf Association, Brooklawn is the only club in Connecticut to have hosted four USGA national championships.
“I have spent more than 20 years on golf courses in Connecticut and throughout the region and Brooklawn Country Club measures up as one of the best in the Northeast,” said Doug Holub, director of Fairfield Golf.
