“Please don’t wait until the last minute,” Elliott Landon, Westport Public Schools superintendent, said in a press release. “Let us know now that you are here so we may plan for the optimal education for your youngsters.”
Completed registration packets require documentation such as the child’s birth certificate or passport and four proofs of residency.
Once students are registered, they will have an opportunity to visit classrooms and participate in different programs as part of a “mini-kindergarten” orientation.
“Preparations for 2015-16 are well under way,” Landon said. “There are many elements that go into the planning process for a new school year, and everything is affected by enrollment.”
“The sooner we have a firm count on the number of students in each school and grade, the better we can plan for the number of kindergarten sections at each school.”
Parents unsure of which elementary school is assigned to their neighborhood can visit the Westport Public Schools website or call the superintendent’s office at 203-341-1026.
