Staples Players Learn From Broadway Legend Baayork Lee

WESTPORT, Conn. — Broadway actress Baayork Lee, who was cast as the original Connie Wong in the Broadway production of “A Chorus Line,” stopped by Staples High School on Tuesday to meet with members of the Staples Players student acting group.

During her visit, Lee shared stories of working with musical theater director, writer, choreographer and dancer Michael Bennett, and the original cast of the Broadway musical. She also talked about the importance of loving what you do.

After her talk, Lee led the Staples Players cast of “A Chorus Line” through a warm-up and helped the student actors practice some of the show's dance routines.

“A Chorus Line” opens March 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Staples High School, 70 North Ave. Other performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 16, 22 and 23; 3 p.m. March 17; and 7 p.m. March 21.

Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults at staplesplayers.com. Tickets will also at the door, as available, 30 minutes before the show. Cash or checks only accepted at the door.
