Hundreds of people gathered to pay their final respects to Joan Parker, the much-loved principal of Helen Keller Middle School who died last week after a long bought with cancer. Funeral services were held at Notre Dame of Easton at 4 p.m. Friday.
Several photomontages of Parker and her family members greeted the mourners as they entered the church. Condolences and memorials can be sent in the form of donations to the Easton Learning Foundation, P.O. Box 437?Easton, CT 06612.
The foundation, which she founded in 2004, is her legacy to the town. Its mission is to raise funds and improve community involvement in public schools.
