Easton Girls' Ceramics Picked for National Exhibit

EASTON, Conn. - Ceramics created by two students at Samuel Staples Elementary School in Easton will be shown in this year’s National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition.

Pieces by fifth-grader Sara Alix and second-grader Rachel Horowitz were among 150 works of art chosen from 1,134 entries. Samuel Staples students also had pieces selected for the shows in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011.

The show is an annual competition for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. It is part of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts conference, a gathering of artists, professors, teachers and others that will be held in Seattle this year.
