Firefighters and police responded to the 500 block of Maple Avenue on reports of a structure fire and discovered the basement blaze in a multi-family home, police said. Two occupants and several pets, including six birds, were safely evacuated, police said.
Multiple roadways in the area remain closed and residents are encouraged to avoid the area, police said.
