Motorcyclist Seriously Hurt In NJ Turnpike Crash: State Police

A motorcyclist was seriously hurt in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said.

Based on a preliminary investigation a Ford Mustang was disabled in the right travel lane of the Turnpike north on the outer roadway. The Ford was disabled due to a prior hit-and-run motor vehicle crash. 

Isaiah Diaz, 22, of Perth Amboy, was riding a BMW motorcycle on the north outer roadway In the area of milepost 89.9, Marchan said.

The front of the BMW impacted the rear of the Ford before striking the left guardrail. As a result of the crash, Diaz was ejected, struck the left guardrail and sustained serious injuries, Marchan said. 

The crash remains under investigation.
