Roger Pastore, 77; Former Stamford Resident Owned Oil Company

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Roger J. Pastore, 77, a former resident of Stamford, died on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Choice Rehab & Hospice Care in Surprise, Ariz.

Pastore was born on July 25, 1937, in Stamford to Samuel Pastore and Mollie DeLuca Pastore.

Pastore worked for Cassone Bakery as a young man and went on to become an insurance agent.  He also owned Platt Valley Oil in Denver. He resided in Bow Mar, Colo. and Scottsdale, Ariz. before retiring to Surprise. He was an entrepreneur with interest in restaurant proprietorship, thoroughbred horse racing and oil drilling. He loved horse racing, golf and football, especially the Denver Broncos.

He is survived by his partner, Tamara Smith of Surprise; sister Karen T. Pastore, nieces Lyn M. Chatham, Christine D. Chatham & nephew Thomas R. Chatham and sister-in-law Dorothy Pastore. He was predeceased by his son Thomas Pastore-Varunes and brother Thomas J. Pastore.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 15 from 9-11 a.m. at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Darien.
