WESTON, CONN. -- A proposed operating budget of $12.6 million has been presented to Weston’s Board of Selectmen, WestonForum.com reported this week.

The spending plan, put forth by First Selectman Nina Daniel, represents an increase of 1.74 percent, WestonForum.com reported.

In a letter to the board, Daniel said she feels the town should not incur any new municipal debt at this time, WestonForum.com's story said.

Among the many factors behind the proposed hike are increases in employee health insurance costs and in a salary reserve for certain town workers, WestonForum.com reported.
