The highest post up for election is first selectman. Incumbent Natalie Ketcham announced earlier this year that she would not seek another term.
The Republicans have endorsed Region 9 Board of Education member J. Christopher Hocker for first selectman, with Zoning Board of Appeals chair Michael Thompson as his running mate. Democratic Selectman Julia Pemberton has announced her intention to run for the office as well, with Region 9 Board member Leon Karvelis as her running mate.
Other offices up for re-election in November include the other two seats on the Board of Selectmen, two spots on the Board of Finance, four seats on the Redding Board of Education and two of Redding’s representatives on the Region 9 Board of Education.
On the town’s land use boards, the entirety of the Board of Assessment Appeals, three seats on the Planning Commission, two seats on the Zoning Commission, and two full members and three alternates on the Zoning Board of Appeals are also up for a vote this November. The town treasurer, the tax collector and all of Redding’s constables are also up for re-election.
The Redding Democratic Town Committee’s nomination meeting is scheduled for Thursday starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting room.
The Republican Party’s nomination caucus is set for July 23 at 7:30 p.m., also in the Town Hall meeting room.
