Leaders Of Weston, Westport Plan Joint Talk On Challenges

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Gayle Weinstein, first selectman of Weston since 2009, and Jim Marpe, first selectman of Westport since 2013, will be the featured speakers before Y’s Men of Westport/Weston group on Thursday, May 14.

The meeting will be at the Unitarian Church in Westport, at 10 Lyons Plain Road.

They will speak on the challenges the communities have faced in the past few years and those that need to be addressed in the future. Coffee and donuts start at 9:45 a.m. with the talk at 10:30 a.m.

Weinstein earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology from Brandeis University and a master's from Stony Brook University and worked as a personnel recruiter in New York for seven years before moving to Weston.

Marpe earned a bachelor's degree in ,anagement science from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from Wharton. He enjoyed a 32-year career as an information system consultant with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), where, prior to retirement, he headed the firm’s worldwide financial services industry M&A business, focused primarily on helping clients through post-deal systems integration.

Each was involved with local government, education, community and religious organizations prior to election as first selectman.

The Y's Men of Westport/Weston is an organization of semi-retired and retired men with a continued interest in activity, fellowship, learning and community service.
