Westport Police Warn Of Car Break-Ins

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Town of Westport is warning residents that the town has experienced multiple stolen vehicles and numerous vehicle break-ins this month.

In most cases, the keys were left in the unlocked vehicles. In all cases of vehicles being entered, which resulted in thefts, the doors were unlocked. The recent thefts have occurred primarily overnight. 

The Westport Police Department reminds residents to please lock their car, bring their keys inside and to take valuables out of the car for the night, including purses, wallets and electronics.

In addition, police said it's a good practice to keep outside lights on and motion lights activated. They are asking residents to notify the department at 203-341-6000 if their vehicle is broken in to, or they observe anything suspicious in the their neighborhoods.
