At about 6:30 p.m., Westport Police responded to a report that a motorist had been cut off by a possibly dark blue or black Volkswagen and robbed at gunpoint inside his car, according to a Westport Police Department press release.

The victim told officers he had just been paid for completing an electrical job at a bodega in Bridgeport, in front on a number of customers, police said. While traveling back to his home in Norwalk, the victim told police he was cut off at the intersection and approached by a passenger of the Volkswagen who spoke Spanish and asked for directions, according to police.

The victim described the suspect a 5-foot-8 dark-skinned Hispanic male dressed in dark clothing and a dark ski-cap, police said. He was of lean build and had a scar on the right side of his face that went from the corner of his mouth upward toward his ear, police said.

While talking to the victim, the suspect brandished a small silver semi-automatic firearm, entered the driver’s vehicle and searched him for the money, authorities said. The suspect then fled the scene eastbound toward Wilton Road, police said.

Westport Police are asking that any individuals in the area of the crime or with information regarding the incident to call 203-341-6000.
