She is taking over the role vacated by Peter D’Amico, who served in the position from 1989 until his retirement Nov. 1.
Gambino brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field. She has worked in the animal control departments of Easton, Fairfield and most recently Bridgeport the last eight years. In Bridgeport, she was the chief animal control officer responsible for a large municipal shelter.
Along with her experience, she also is a 2006 graduate of the University of Connecticut with an associate’s degree in the study of animal science. She has various accreditations, including the National Animal Control Association Certification, DEEP Wildlife Control Certification and has attended CT Municipal Animal Control Training Seminars from 2008-14.
She also has a number of documented achievements while working in the field, including the Hurricane Sandy Assistance Award for her efforts with shelter evacuation, temporary shelter service and calls for service in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
