Westport Greets Midday Snow And Sleet

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Relieved Westport officials stepped out on Harbor Road Tuesday at midday to witness the snowstorm's shift to wind-blown wind and rain.

Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe joined Deputy Chief Bob Kepchar and firefighters Scott Delvecchio and Toby Ostapchuk on Harbor Road at noon where the snow had turned to wind-blown sleet and rain.

Despite the rough weather, the town had not had any significant emergencies and parking lots were being cleared by noon, the town announced on its Facebook page.

Meanwhile, a fire department high-wheeled emergency response vehicle remained on duty in the event of coastal flooding in high tide.
