The crash, which occurred around 7 p.m. Sunday in the area of 661 River Road in Shelton, closed the road, also known as Route 110, for several hours as police investigated the crash.
The initial investigation revealed that two vehicles were involved in the crash and that two people were confirmed dead at the scene, police said.
Police have not released the names of the two who were killed.
Two others were taken to area hospitals for injuries sustained in the crash, police said.
The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigating this accident. No enforcement action has been taken at this time.
