Saugatuck Avenue Reopens In Westport After Dump Truck Accident

WESTPORT, Conn. — (UPDATE 4 p.m.) Saugatuck Avenue has reopened to traffic, police said.

Drivers were urged to avoid Saugatuck Avenue in Westport near the railroad underpass until further notice after a dump truck became stuck underneath it at 1 p.m. Friday, closing the street, police said.

The truck was traveling north on Saugatuck Avenue when it struck the underpass and become stuck, police said.

Efforts were being made to free the truck, police said, but the road may be closed "for some time." The accident was under investigation.
