Donald Luciano, 45, was charged with first-degree identity theft and second-degree larceny.
In July 2016, his employer told police Luciano, who had been working for him since 2014, had started embezzling money from the company to the tune of about $14,000, police said.
The victim would give Luciano his personal credit card to pay for job-related things, such as mailing supplies, police said.
Sometime around January 2016, Luciano began spending more than usual and a Westport officer discovered he used the card at restaurants, for gift cards and for round-trip flights to Florida, police said.
Luciano also falsified checks that were supposed to be delivered to the victim’s clients, forging their names on the checks and taking the money for himself, police said.
Luciano turned himself in on an active warrant Thursday. He was held on $50,000 bond and is due in court on July 13.
