Gunshots may be heard intermittently between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Shots have been heard from as far away as the intersection of Fairfield Woods and Stratfield roads and can resemble rapid fire.

“While we encourage all residents to remain vigilant in observing and reporting any perceived threats in your area, we want to make sure everyone is aware of this training event to establish some context for the sounds of gunshots in these areas,” Lt. Eddie Weihe of the School Safety Division wrote in a message to Fairfield families.

Weston police posted an alert on their Facebook page, telling residents the gunshots they heard Monday were coming from the Fairfield training.
