Sondra 'Sandy' Nudelman Ziering, 83, Of Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – Sondra "Sandy" Nudelman Ziering, 83, died Monday, April 27.

Born Aug. 21, 1931, in East Orange, N.J., to the late David Nudelman and Peggy Gabins Nudelman, she graduated Irvington High School before moving to Maplewood, N.J. For over 20 years, she was a legal assistant, first at Nudelman and Grossman, the law firm founded by her father, and later at Nudelman, Nudelman and Ziering, the firm continued by her brother Arthur and son, Peter.

She was married more than 58 years to her husband, Jerome (Jerry). They raised their three children and lived in West Orange, N.J., for over 50 years. In 2007, the couple moved into the home of their daughter Allison, son-in-law Michael Walmark and two grandchildren in Westport.

She was an active member of Temple Emanu-El, taught adult ESL and was an adult mentor/child buddy volunteer at Harrison Elementary School in New Jersey. A lifetime Hadassah member, she and her husband relished time at the Westport Senior Center and were lifelong learners at Norwalk Community College.

In addition to her husband, Jerry, son Peter, daughter Allison, son-in-law Michael, grandchildren Ethan and Eliza, and brother Arthur, survivors include son, Dr. Thomas "Tom" (Alex Wieselman); five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, N.J. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane, Iselin, N.J. The family will receive visitors on Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday, May 1, from 11 a.m. -8 p.m. at the home of Jeffrey and Debbie Ziering, 718 Crescent Parkway, Westfield, NJ.

On Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, visitors will be received at 11 a.m. at the Ziering/Walmark home, 13 Rockyfield Road, Westport.
