Kathleen (Kitty) E. H. Todd, 91, Of Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – Kathleen (Kitty) E. H. Todd, 91, of Westport, wife of the late James T. Todd, died Friday, Aug. 7.

She was born Oct. 13, 1923, in White Plains, New York, and was the daughter of the late Haswell and Anais (Haase) Herbert. She moved to Westport in 1933 and was a 1942 Staples High School graduate. After high school, she attended Antioch College in Ohio. She worked at Bridgeport Brass Company, where she was the first female tool setter. She also worked at the Westport Police Department as a bookkeeper and secretary from 1972 until her retirement in 2007.

She served as a volunteer Westport Emergency Medical Technician and was a founding member and the only woman in the first class of the Westport EMS in the fall of 1979. She sat on the first board of directors and was one of four to be made a lifetime member and in 1989, was chosen as Volunteer of the Year. In 1972, she was the first woman elected to the Vestry of Christ and Holy Trinity Church in Westport. She was honored to be re-elected again in 1976 and 1994. She loved the Christ and Holy Trinity community as her family and thought of it as her second home.

She is survived by five sons with her late husband, Loren T. Troy: Dr. Kevin M. Troy and Michael Hogan; Kerry L. Troy and his former wife Joyce; Khristopher R. Troy; Kent H. Troy and his wife, Jenifer; and K. J. Troy and his wife, Nisargo; two stepsons James T. Todd Jr. and Michael Lee Todd; one stepdaughter Tracey Staley; seven grandchildren; one niece and five nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters and a nephew.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. at Christ and Holy Trinity Church, 75 Church Lane, Westport.
