Fable was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., the daughter of Otto and Evelyn (Spangenberg) Mills. She had been a resident of Westport for the past 82 years. Before retiring, she was the receptionist for the Westport-Weston YMCA for many years. She was a 1944 graduate of the University of North Carolina and a member of the Westport Senior Center.
Fable is survived by her sons, William Sandy Fable (Susan Goldberg) of West Hartford, John M. Fable (Anna Fortuna) of Fairfield; four grandchildren; sister-in-law, Laura Mills of South Bristol, Maine; and three nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, William E. Fable; and brother, Edward Ned Mills.
Calling hours are Friday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road, E., Westport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 14, at noon in Saint Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road, N., Westport. Interment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main St., Westport. A reception will follow at the Red Barn, 292 Wilton Road, Westport.
