Weston Collects Household Hazardous Waste

Weston residents can bring their household hazardous waste to the Public Works Facility at 78 Old Hyde Road on Saturday, April 23, for disposal.

The materials that will be accepted include: acids, aerosols, ammonia cleaners, anti-freeze, disinfectants, drain openers, flea powder, furniture polish, gasoline, herbicides, household batteries, household cleaners, insecticides, mercury thermometers, moth balls, motor oils, oven cleaners, oil base paint, paint removers, paint thinners, pesticides, photo chemicals, rust removers, stains, swimming pool chemicals, toilet bowl cleaners, transmission fluid, turpentine and varnishes.

These materials will be collected from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Residents must bring proof of residency.

A trained chemist will be on site to give advice on what to do with items that will not be accepted, such as latex paints, smoke detectors, motor oil and car batteries.

Anyone with a mercury thermometer will be able to exchange it for a non-mercury thermometer.

Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles while waiting to drop off waste.
