Trees Make Bad Hiding Places

A Bronx woman was arrested Saturday after a resident told police she saw her taking clothing from her car and hiding it behind a tree in the area of Sylvan Road South in Westport. Arriving officers found the clothing, and from the price tags they determined it came from Roundabout at 170 Post Road W.

When police went to the store, they saw the car described by the eye witness. The woman seen by the witness, Sharon Stewart, 42, was in the store, and store employees confirmed that the found clothing had been stolen. Stewart was charged with sixth-degree larceny and  is due in court on Dec. 7.

Also from the police blotter:

Bridgeport resident Andrew McKenzie, 25, was pulled over Sunday night for having a badly cracked windshield. A computer check revealed there was a warrant out for McKenzie's arrest by Stratford police. The officer who stopped McKenzie smelled marijuana coming from inside his car. A small baggie of marijuana was found on McKenzie and several wrapped and unwrapped cigars  used for smoking marijuana were found in the car. McKenzie was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance. He was turned over to Stratford police on the warrant and is due in court on Dec. 9.
