FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — In case you missed it, here are the top stories of the past week in Fairfield County, as reported by Daily Voice.

The Bridgeport Police Robbery Squad is asking for assistance with identifying the suspect responsible for an armed robbery at 186 North Ave.

Police released surveillance footage of an armed robbery at Little Caesars Pizza Restaurant in Bridgeport. The video shows a suspect dressed in black holding a gun directly to the head of an employee, who removes cash from the register and places it in a bag.

A bartender was shot in the abdomen during a robbery at BAR in Stratford Center on Tuesday. Police released two surveillance photos of the suspect in the shooting, while a GoFundMe campaign was set up to help the bartender with his recovery. 

A 9-year-old boy in Danbury was hailed as a hero after he called 911 to save the life of his baby sister. Officials said the boy remained calm and relayed messages to his mother so that she could provide care to the baby, who was choking.

Jennifer Valiante of Westport pleaded guilty in connection with the murder of her boyfriend Kyle Navin's parents in 2015. Jeanette and Jeffrey Navin of Easton were murdered and buried in a yard in Weston. Police charged their son Kyle Navin with their murder, and Valiante was charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

A Stratford woman and a Fairfield man were arrested after police said they refused to leave a pub in Fairfield. The man was accused of pulling out a folding knife and threatening employees during the incident.

A man was struck and killed by a Metro-North train as it pulled into the station in Milford late Tuesday night. The man was later identified as 24-year-old Ryan Duffy of Wilton.

An investigation was launched after a Facebook video surfaced that showed five Bridgeport police officers beating a teenager during an arrest last Friday. The officers were placed on administrative status while the incident is investigated by the Bridgeport Police Office of Internal Affairs. One of the officers later said she feared the teenager had a concealed weapon.

A 53-year-old Stratford man was charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a Bridgeport teenager in September. Police said that Lonnie MeBane shot the teen during a robbery when the teen entered his car to sell him drugs.

Stamford Police are investigating three deaths apparently tied to heroin in the past week. The bags of heroin found at the three scenes did not appear to come from the same batch, and police were investigating whether fentanyl or another substance was mixed in.

A member of the state Board of Education, who was arrested on drunken driving charges four times at the beginning of the year, was arrested again and charged with violating his probation. Stephen Wright, 62, had reportedly provided a fake address and phone number to probation officials, and failed to show up for a meeting with his probation officer.

The superintendent of Norwalk Public Schools wrote a letter to ABC, asking the network to stop making derogatory jokes about Norwalk on the sitcom "American Housewife." Superintendent Steven J. Adamowski called the jokes about Norwalk students "pejorative, demeaning and divisive."

A 30-year-old Danbury man was stopped in Wilton after another driver accused him of driving him off the road, police said. It turned out that in addition to two children in his car, he also had hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana.
