WESTON, Conn. - Bryan Kovalsky, 33, from Ridgefield crossed the finish line at the Weston Memorial Day 5K Road Race in 16:06, beating former Weston track star Stephen Vento, 19, who ran 16:18.
The two led a pack of 610 runners who competed in this year's Memorial Day race, which was run in warm, overcast weather, starting and finishing at Weston High School.
The top three male and female winners won cash prizes with awards given out to the top three winners in a variety of age groups, from under 10 to over 70.
Many Weston runners won awards, with 14-year-old Kiersten Daly the second best female finisher at 21:03. Meredith Anand, 33, from Easton was the top female finisher at 18:39. She's been the top female finisher the past three years.
An enthusiastic crowd was on hand to cheer on the runners, with an awards ceremony after the race in front of the school.
