WESTON, Conn. Weston outdoor enthusiasts are reminded that Devils Den will be closed for most of this week for deer hunting.
In an effort to control the deer population on the Weston and Redding trails, The Nature Conservancy will hold controlled deer hunting from Nov. 19 to Dec. 9.
Deer hunting will be conducted on the following days this week from Monday through Thursday. At no point during those days are hikers allowed at the preserve.
Devils Den will be closed to visitors on those days, and signs will be posted at the preserve's public entrances. Hunting will take place in interior areas of the preserve, far away from any homes.
All venison meat from the hunt will be donated to Hunters for the Hungry, a statewide nonprofit group that distributes food to local charities and food pantries.
