Power Outages Growing As Wind Picks Up Across Fairfield County

Updated: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Power outages were growing Sunday as strong winds picked up across Fairfield County.

The entire region was under a Wind Advisory until 6 p.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service said. 

Winds of 15 to 20 mph were reported, with gusts of up to 45 to 50 mph.

As of 7:10 p.m., the following power outages were reported by Eversource and United Illuminating: 

  • Bethel: 3 customers 
  • Danbury: 20 customers, down from 584 
  • Darien: 1 customer, down from 63 customers 
  • Fairfield: 9 customers 
  • Greenwich: 561 customers 
  • Monroe: 3,255 customers 
  • New Canaan: 15 customers 
  • Newtown: 1 customer 
  • Norwalk: 14 customers, down from 144  
  • Redding: 2 customers 
  • Ridgefield: 6 customers, down from 44 customers 
  • Shelton: 2 customers, down from 150 customers
  • Sherman: 51 customers  
  • Stamford: 4 customers, down from 207 
  • Trumbull: 18 customers, down from 149 
  • Weston: 17 customers, down from 38 
  • Westport: 7 customers, down from 58 
  • Wilton: 98 customers, down from 560 

It was not clear when all the power outages would be repaired.
