Plumbing Problem Forces Westport Library to Close Early

WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport Public Library, normally open until 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, is closing its doors at 6 p.m. because of a problem with its plumbing system.

Maxine Bleiweis, library director, said she is unsure whether the library will be open Wednesday.

“That depends on what happens tonight,” she said. “We’re investigating the issue.”

Bleiweis advises patrons to check the library website before heading out Wednesday morning, to make sure the building is open.

The plumbing problem, she said, is not related to the power outage on a stretch of Wilton Road on Tuesday morning.
