Merritt Parkway Trail Discussion Comes to Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport residents will get the chance to tell state officials what they think about a proposed 37.5-mile multi-use trail along the Merritt Parkway during an upcoming meeting.

The Connecticut State Highways Design office is hosting a public workshop on the issue Tuesday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m. The workshop, to be held in the Westport Police headquarters classroom, will inform residents about the trail feasibility study.

“Residents, commuters, business owners, and other interested individuals are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss the issues and opportunities associated with the possible development of a multi-use trail which will be included in the feasibility study,” a notice from the highway design office said.

For more information about the study, visit www.ct.gov/dot/MerrittTrailStudy. Written questions or comments should be directed to William Britnell at the Connecticut Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 317546, Newington, CT 06131-7546, or at William.Britnell@ct.gov.

Westport Police headquarters is located at 50 Jesup Road.
