Jennifer Burke, Retired G.E. Exec

Former Westport resident Jennifer Dean Burke of Ridgefield, a retired vice president at General Electric Co., died Dec. 25 after a long battle with brain cancer. She was 53.

Burke was born in Barnesville, Ohio, on Sept. 10, 1957, to Westporters Evan Benedict Dean and Janice Amberg Dean. She was raised in Alton, Ill., and Rochester, N.Y., before moving to Westport.

A graduate of Fairfield University, Burke was employed at Xerox and later at GE, where she retired as a vice president. She was also a member of the G.E. Elfun Society.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband of 25 years, Michael A. Burke; brothers Mark Dean of Wethersfield, Christopher Dean and David Dean of Westport, Eric Dean of Wilton and Thomas Dean of Greenwich; sisters Jayne Dean Albani of Bloomfield and Mary Ann Lindwall of Westport; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 7 at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., Westport. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Burke's memory may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018, or the Wilton YMCA, c/o The Live Strong Program, 404 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897.
