Cavan Devine pleaded guilty to one count of possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and a quantity of Xanax before U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Last Dec. 4, Easton Police seized a bag belonging to Devine that contained 744 grams of methamphetamine (or about a pound-and-a-half), 577 and one-half pills labeled Xanax, and drug paraphernalia.
It was the largest seizure of crystal meth in the area, Easton Police said at the time. Officers also found packaging and scales for drugs, police said.
Devine was arrested the next day on state charges. Easton police officers made the discovery after responding to a call about disorderly conduct at 55 Silver Hill Road, where Devine rented a room, police said.

A subsequent search of a room at the Holiday Inn at 1070 Main St., Bridgeport, that had been rented by Devine turned up more methamphetamine, as well as items used to process, package and mail drugs, prosecutors said. Investigators also seized a laptop computer.
The investigation established that Devine had obtained the methamphetamine and Xanax over the Internet, which he was also using to distribute the drugs, prosecutors said.
Sentencing is set for Dec 22, at which time Devine faces a maximum of 40 years in prison.
Devine was freed on $200,000 bond and is residing at an inpatient drug treatment facility while awaiting sentencing, prosecutors said.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Connecticut State Police and the Easton Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony E. Kaplan.
