Easton Fireman's Carnival Hopes To Rebound From Rainout

EASTON, Conn. - The Easton Fireman's Carnival may be more crowded Thursday night because it was rained out Wednesday.

Heavy rain late Wednesday afternoon that continued into the early evening forced the Carnival Committee to cancel the event Wednesday night.

The loss of a night is a hit to the fire department, which relies on the carnival to raise funds for its activities, an official said. But he said the carnival may be more crowded Thursday, from people who weren't able to attend Wednesday.

The carnival enjoyed beautiful weather for its opening Tuesday night and plans to run through Saturday in front of the fire house, 1 Center Road, with parking available on Sport Hill Road..

The carnival is open 6 to 10 each night. Admission is free, but a ride band costs $20, which allows unlimited rides. Visitors can buy raffle tickets for $25 for a chance to win a bright red 2012 Jeep Wrangler.

The carnival is famous for its peach shortcake, courtesy of Siren Aide, the fire department’s ladies auxiliary,
