Turner Construction also said the construction work continues on schedule and on budget.
Workers are already attaching the basketball hoops to the shiny new glass backboards in the gymnasium.
But much work remains to be done before the doors are open to the 54,000-square-foot facility early this fall.
For example, pallets of hardwood maple flooring are stacked across the gym floor. They are curing on-site to adjust to the building’s humidity levels before being set in place.
With the long-awaited arrival of the growing season, landscaping is ready to commence. Hundreds of deciduous and evergreens have been delivered to the site and will be planted across the construction site. These sizable trees will be supplemented by hundreds more shrubs, bushes and other ornamental plantings.
Across Poplar Plains Brook at the Camp Mahackeno facility, new playing fields, created by the installation of the mandated on-site waste-water treatment facility, have been seeded. When campers return to their longtime haven next summer, they’ll have a lovely new “Great Lawn” for games and outdoor play.
