Westport Business Supports Water Testing Program

WESTPORT, Conn. – A volunteer-based water monitoring program at Earthplace, Westport's nature discovery center, will soon be expanded to Westport's Mill Pond,  thanks to a $3,000 grant from Patagonia-Westport.

The grant, given in support of the Harbor Watch program, will allow testing of three streams that feed into the Mill Pond, which is near Compo Beach. Volunteers will collect water samples to identify potential sources of contamination.

The Harbor Watch program at Earthplace is one of the few independent state-licensed testing laboratories in Fairfield County. For more information, visit Earthplace online or contact Dick Harris, program director, at 203-227-7253, ext. 121.
