Neighbors Talk about the Oil Spill

The patriotism and pleasures of Memorial Day are paramount but the BP oil spill devastating the Louisiana coast, and its long-term effects, were also a source of enormous concern around town. A new system to plug the gushing oil is expected to begin in a day or so. But the wells that can capture the oil flowing underground won't be completed until August.

Neighbors at Compo Beach and Stop and Shop described their feelings about this ecological tragedy, which the White House is calling "the biggest environmental disaster we've ever faced."
