The event will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. The exhibit, which chronicles 50 years in pencil, ink, and watercolor, will be on display through Wednesday, Sept. 25.

When the Scottish-born artist Gabrielle A. Dearborn and her American husband, Hamilton, moved after World War II to the U.S. and eventually to Connecticut, they took up residence on Wright Street in Westport. Here,  Dearborn spent the next 50 years watching and painting everything she saw in town, at the beach and in her own back yard.

The library is located at 20 Jesup Road. For more information, call 203-291-4800 or visit its website
