Challenge Sunday Boredom at the Westport Weston Y

WESTPORT, Conn. – Kids and adults can try their hand at rock climbing, archery or canoeing at the Westport Weston Family Y this month, even if they're not members.

Every Sunday through July 31, the Family Y is hosting Summer Sundays at its Mahackeno Outdoor Center, 32 acres of open space and recreational areas along the banks of the Saugatuck River.

During Summer Sundays, members and nonmembers alike can enjoy everything Mahackeno has to offer, including the outdoor swimming pool, basketball courts and playing fields, the archery range, a 20-foot rock climbing wall and access to Lees Pond. Families can also participate in kayaking, canoeing, a fitness expo, basketball shooting contests and outdoor games.

Families can bring their own lunches or enjoy hotdogs and hamburgers fresh from the grill. Admission is free for Family Y members and is $20 per family for non-members.

Summer Sundays take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The swimming pool is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., special activities and lunch take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children and adults of all ages are welcome, but kids under 14 should be accompanied by an adult.
