Scientists Unveil Revolutionary Drones For Whale Research In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Library and the Friends of Sherwood Island will display a new method of collecting biological samples from whales using drones in a program on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Sherwood Island Nature Center.

Registration is available online at this link. A printed copy of the registration will serve as a free entry to Sherwood Island State Park for the program. Iain Kerr, chief executive officer of the Ocean Alliance, a whale researcher and conservationist since 1970 will give a presentation of the invention called Snotbot and how it is transforming the way whales are studied. 

Immediately following, the Ocean Alliance will conduct a live demonstration of the Snotbot in action using 3D printed blowholes on the Country Squires Modelers Airfield at Sherwood Island. Light refreshments will be served. For further information call (203)-291-4800, or click here.
