Greenwich's Bruce Museum Displays Art From Fairfield County Teens

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Bruce Museum in Greenwich is displaying nearly 40 original pieces of artwork by Fairfield County and Westchester County high school students through July 7 as part of the museum's fourth annual "iCreate" exhibition.

The works on display were selected from more than 400 entires from 26 schools in the area. The pieces of art on display include works in oil, watercolor, acrylic, ink wash, pastel, any type of drawing medium, traditional printmaking forms, mixed media and digital media

The show also includes a video presentation, accompanied by music created by local youth, featuring all of the submitted artwork.

"These works demonstrate the creative diversity and versatility of this new generation," a Bruce Museum spokesman said in a press release. "The unique qualities of each piece represent the artists and their diverse education."

Kristin Dittrich, a junior at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, won the honorable mention award for her pencil and paper piece "Jamaican Grace." Sarah Ellis, a sophomore at John Jay High School in North Salem, was awarded the "Youth@Bruce" award for her colored pencil piece "To Tell a Story."

Olivia Brodsky, Sophie Graf, Phoebe Weiss, Caitlin Buckley, Maria Elena Ubina and Olivia Alchek of Greenwich Academy and Emma Wheeler and Damian Orellana of Greenwich High School also have pieces on display.

Kyra Cushing, Emily Anderson, Kristina Dittrich, Kim Manjuck, Sarah Paschkes, Gunner Rainford, Carly Terreson and Molly Chason of Fox Lane High School in Bedford, N.Y., all also have works on display in the exhibit.

Other teen artists from The Daily Voice's readership area with works on display in the "iCreate" exhibit include Tia Carson (Westport, Greens Farms Academy), Elizabeth Coretto (Mamaroneck High School), Elizabeth Forelle (Darien High School), Sophia Durakis Green (Westport, Staples High School), Karina Ikeda (Armonk, Bedford Hills High School), Lila Sferlazza (Norwalk High School), David Kaminksy (Briarcliff Manor High School), Rebecca Reeve (Hastings High School), Sophie Tepler (Westport, Greens Farms Academy) and Lyra Fuchs (Hastings High School).

The Bruce Museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. It is closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for students up to age 22, $6 for seniors and free for members and children under 5. Individual admission is free on Tuesday.
