WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport may be known today as as a great place to live along Long Island Sound, but CTHistory.org is reminding residents of a time when it was known for something else: onion farms.

The article at CTHistory.org goes into detail about how Westport onions flooded New York City markets around the time of the Civil War and how changes in the economic climate shifted the lifestyle from agrarian onion farming into the modern-day suburb.
