Friday, Jan. 4

Alberta Cifolelli Exhibit: An eclectic exhibit by noted Westport artist Alberta Cifolelli will open in the Great Hall of the Westport Library. The exhibit will be on display through March 26. An opening reception is set for Jan. 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Winter Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shop for locally grown and organic fruits and vegetables, foods and a variety of other items from local vendors. Gilberties, 7 Sylvan Lane.

Around the World Creative Kids: 2 p.m. Design your own Rangoli – Indian folk art – using vibrantly-colored rice. Free with museum admission, but tickets are required. Limited space. For ages 2 and older. Stepping Stones Museum for Children, Mathews Park, 303 West Ave., Norwalk.

Critter Encounters: 2:30 p.m. Meet some of the Earthplace animals, take a trail walk to see what critters you encounter or make a craft to bring home. Included with cost of admission: free for members, $5 to $7 nonmembers. Earthplace, 10 Woodside Lane.

Sunday, Jan. 6

WestportREADS 2013: F. Scott Fitzgerald and the American Dream: 2 p.m. Join Mark Schenker, associate dean at Yale College, for a non-political discussion of what "The Great Gatsby" continues to tell us about our nation, our history and ourselves. Westport Library, McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.
