WESTON, CONN. — The Cobbs Mill Inn in Weston will host “A Chris Coogan Valentine’s Day Concert” on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 9 p.m.
Coogan, an accomplished pianist from Weston, will be joined by special guest vocalist Michele Grace of Fairfield and the other members of his jazz trio -- drummer Jim Royle and bassist John Mobilio.
“During this performance, we will focus on the sultry sounds of jazz,” says Coogan. “Songs to be performed will include ‘I'm in the Mood for Love,’ ‘My Funny Valentine’ and ‘They Say That Falling in Love is Wonderful.'” ”
Coogan's tastes are rooted in jazz and gospel. Not only does he lead his own jazz trio, he is also the director of the Good News Gospel Choir and conducts gospel workshops nationwide.
He has played and/or recorded with Sal Salvador, Dave Liebman, Harold Danko, Ronnie Spector, James Naughton, Phoebe Snow, Mavis Staples, Darlene Love, Bette Midler, Donna Summer, Will Lee, Shawn Pelton, Vaneese Thomas, Rob Mathes, Teo Macero, Whoopi Goldberg, Alec Baldwin and Paul Newman.
