Deirdre Daly, who was the first woman to be nominated for and confirmed as U.S. attorney in Connecticut, is scheduled to speak at 10:45 a.m. at Temple Israel on Coleytown Road, according to organizers. Coffee and conversation are to follow at 11:30 a.m.
According to a statement from The Y’s Women, Daly prosecutes all criminal and civil cases brought by the federal government in Connecticut and defends the United States when it is named in a civil case.
In the course of her work, much of her efforts are spent investigating, prosecuting and preventing terrorism, organizers said.
With previous experience working in the Southern District of New York, Daly – who earned her degrees from Dartmouth College and Georgetown University Law Center – has prosecuted a wide range of cases from racketeering to murder, corruption and fraud, according to The Y’s Women.
Founded in 1992, The Y’s Women serves women working or retired in Fairfield County. Its membership exceeds 400 people, organizers said.
