Transgender Day of Remembrance
The annual International Transgender Day of Remembrance will be commemorated this year on Tuesday, November 20 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at The Unitarian Church in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Road, Westport.

The Unitarian Church in Westport’s Rainbow Task Force, Triangle Community Center (TCC), and The Pride Network are organizing this candlelight vigil to honor the lives of victims of transgender violence.
The program consists of a Welcome, Opening Remarks, Reading of Names, Transgender Day of Remembrance in 4 voices, and Closing.

This community event provides an opportunity for family members and allies of transgender people a chance to step forward and stand in vigil, memorializing those who’ve died by anti-transgender violence.

International Transgender Day of Remembrance is a day in which hundreds of groups across the world hold vigils to remember those that have been brutally murdered simply because of their gender identity.

Over the last decade, more than one person a month has died due to transgender hate or prejudice regardless of any other factors in their lives. This trend shows no signs of abating.
